An
Introduction to the Barron Canyon in Algonquin Park
In early June 2008, my old friend Tom and I travelled up from
Ottawa to Algonquin Park to do some Canoeing in Barron Canyon. It's one
of the most beautiful ribbon of water for a canoe, and has great
campsites. I wanted to put a few pictures up to give you an idea
of what's in store.
The trip is about two and a half hours out of the city on Highway 17.
Take the Sand Gate entrance road, which is miles of dirt but in good
shape. You put in just after the steep descent and over the river
bridge.
Now you're ready to enjoy the day...or the week!
only a short 400 metre portage
What a great campsite!
Man, what a great view...
and a good license Plate in the parking lot ( the only other car there!)
See you there!
